Privacy
Short version: numbers only, no accounts, no tracking cookies, no selling. Four public pages show one small ad (see Advertising).
What Fair Turns stores
- One-off rotations (the Make page): nothing. The plan is worked out and shown; it is not saved.
- A Bench Book: the sport, format and game split you chose, the jersey numbers on the team, numbers you locked to a spot, the plans you save ("Game 1", "Game 2"...) and which numbers were away for each. The book is found by a random private key; we store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of that key.
- A Turn Pass (once payments are on): PayPal's subscription reference, the plan and the date it runs to. PayPal handles the payment; we never see card details.
- Abuse limits: a scrambled (salted hash) form of your internet address, counted per day, deleted after two days.
What it never asks for
No names, birthdays, photos, email addresses, phone numbers, schools, places, game dates or opponents. The number fields refuse anything but numbers. Please do not use jersey numbers as a code for anything else.
Cookies
One cookie holds your Bench Book key in this browser (only if you start or open a book), and one security cookie protects forms. No advertising or analytics cookies, and no outside fonts. The only script from another site is the adengine.us banner described under Advertising, and it runs only on the pages that show it.
Advertising
Four public pages (home, How it decides, Pricing and About) show one banner ad from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind Fair Turns. For now the ads are for WeldonPC's own services. Make a rotation and your rotation, the Bench Book, this page, Terms and error pages never show an ad.
To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your internet address, your browser type and the address of this site with those requests.
- No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
- How your internet address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your internet address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC's own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
- What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (internet address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
- Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser's site, which has its own privacy policy.
- Nothing about you is sold or shared. The ad request names only this site and the banner size: your jersey numbers and plans never leave Fair Turns.
How long
A Bench Book nobody opens for 400 days is deleted (unless a Pass is still running). You can delete a game or the whole book at any time from the book itself. Nightly database backups are kept for 14 days, so a deleted book is gone from backups within 14 days. The site's own error logs are kept 30 days.
Children
Fair Turns is for coaches. It collects no personal information about players, including children. The ad appears only on the four public pages written for coaches, and it sets no cookies and builds no profile of anyone.
